Replacing your hot water system?

From January 1st 2010, if you live in a house or townhouse located where piped natural gas is available and your electric hot water system needs to be replaced, you will be required to install a greenhouse efficient hot water system – either gas, solar or heat pump.

Owners of existing houses or townhouses located outside a natural gas reticulated area will still be permitted to install an electric system, however, it is recommended you consider a greenhouse efficient option.

Your energy supplier or plumber will be able to assist you with choosing a suitable replacement system and advise on the cost of connecting it.

To see if your property might be located in a natural gas reticulated area, please visit http://www.dip.qld.gov.au/ or call the Natural Gas Hotline on 1800 007 427 to confirm.
